I am a millionaire!
There is a specific affirmation process that most people miss.
Typically, when people first learn about affirmations, they jump right in: "I am a millionaire!"
They say it over and over. Six-months later, they are frustrated that nothing happened.
What went wrong? When "I am a millionaire!" was affirmed, it most likely competed with the following beliefs:
-
I have no control over the events in my life
There is not enough money to go around
I am poor
And on, and on...
For affirmations to have power, they have to be congruent with your other existing beliefs. So, first things first, what do you believe? Make a list and include everything. This is the first step in the affirmation process. We have to know where we are starting so we can map a path to get to where we want to go.
Next step, do you believe that your thoughts create your reality? Honestly contemplate this one. What have your life experiences told you about this idea? Do they support it? Do they contradict it? Do you feel that life pushes you around at random or do you possess the power to change your life? For this affirmation process to work, you have to truly believe that your thoughts create your reality.
This means that you must take responsibility for what you experience in your life, all of the good and all of the not so good. This is the core of why affirmations work. If you already hold this belief, great! You're on to step 3 in the process. If not, you'll need to instill this belief first.
The reason this belief is so important is that there is no way to manifest what you desire if you do not believe that you can do so. You would be saying: "I am a millionaire!" and at the same time believing that what you say and think doesn't make any difference in your reality.
To adopt this belief, say the affirmation "My thoughts create my reality!" 5-times in a row, 3-times daily. If you find that when you say "My thoughts create my reality" if it feels like you are lying, start with something that is true for you now. For instance:
-
"I choose to believe that my thoughts create my reality."
"I am willing to believe that my thoughts create my reality."
One of the most important keys to remember regarding affirmations is to pay attention to how you physically feel when you speak an affirmation. The feeling our body returns to us when we say an affirmation, tells us if we believe it or not. No matter how hard you mentally want to believe you are wealthy if you do not feel wealth when you affirm, "I am wealthy." you are really intending lack. This made a huge difference in the way I practiced affirmations. Once I learned to watch the feeling associated with my words, I saw what I was really intending.
Find something that is true for you right now. Another helpful technique here is to start a manifestation journal. Record each memory where you can connect a thought, emotion or dream to what you have experienced. This will strengthen your words with emotion and memories. Once you can say that you believe that your thoughts create your reality, you have put a tremendous amount of power behind your affirmations.
Upon the foundational belief that thought creates reality, we will build additional beliefs to support specific desires. Next step in the affirmation process, head back to the list of beliefs you created earlier. Which beliefs support your ideal life? Which beliefs contradict your wishes? It is necessary to address those beliefs that contradict your intentions. We must get our old baggage and societal beliefs out of the way so that our optimal selves can emerge.
If you believe in lack and scarcity, then you could affirm wealth all day long and not see any change in your finances. To become wealthy, you have to clear out all of the opposing beliefs. For each negative belief on your list, create an affirmation that establishes the positive belief you wish to hold instead. Turn negatives into positives. For example:
-
Negative belief: Money is a scarce resource.
Affirmation: There is no limit to the supply of money available.
Remember if the affirmation does not feel true for you, you can put "I choose to believe." or "I am willing to believe." in front of the affirmation to make it true for you. One of the biggest pitfalls people hit with affirmations is affirming something that feels untrue for them. We always manifest what we feel, not what we say. Hence, say what feels true for you.
Disclaimer: this process may be especially intense for some people. If you find that you have some powerful emotions and beliefs to work through, please seek the guidance of a professional counselor which can help clear out some of your more deeply rooted beliefs.
Again, repeat your positive affirmations 5-times in a row, 3-times daily until you can say that you absolutely believe in what you are saying. Work through each negative belief on your list until you have changed the core of your personal belief structure. You will find that along the way your life will begin to reflect all of the affirmations you are saying.
The final step in the affirmation process is to layer on your specific intentions. It will be effortless to manifest precise changes in your reality because you now have a foundation of beliefs that support your ideal life.
If you now want to intend that you are a millionaire, your success rate will increase on the strength of the beliefs you've put in place already. This is the fun part.
Dream big. Create vision boards. Write out your ideal day. Think of each aspect of your life and how you would like that to appear. Embellish this with sounds, smells, tastes, sights, and especially feeling. Make your desires as clear as you can in your mind. Write down each intention you wish to achieve, write out why you want to achieve it and what that would feel like. For example:
| Intention | Why? | Feeling |
| Make $200,000 per year | To purchase my dream home | Security, Joy, Comfort |
| Lose 10 pounds | To wear my favorite jeans | Beauty, Self-Confidence |
For each intention on your list, create an affirmation. Pick three intentions you would like to work on now. Repeat the 3 associate affirmations 5-times in a row, 3-times daily. Bear in mind that these affirmations should be believable for you. If saying the affirmation feels like a lie, then you probably still have an underlying belief that does not support the intention you wish to manifest. Work on your core beliefs first before you go for the specifics.
